Experience the power of public education.
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Oak Grove Elementary (OGE). OGE’s theme for the year is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” The faculty and staff are once again excited for the opportunity to partner with parents and the community to ensure that ALL students receive positive social and academic learning experiences throughout the year that promote respect for one’s self, one another and adults, exposing students to the best researched-based instructional practices and strategies. Our goal is to instill a desire in students to perform at a high level of performance. As your principal, I am committed to leading our staff in partnering with parents, business partners, and the community to ensure that academic success for OGE students continues to be a top priority. The school days that follow are intended to be productive and memorable. We believe that through our combined efforts, we will be able to provide students with a safe, rewarding, and successful school year!
We will monitor educational progress through formative and summative assessments, and make necessary instructional adjustments through differentiating instruction to meet the individual needs of every student. We want students to become lifelong learners, proficient in utilizing technology to aid in their learning, and to become contributing members of society by recognizing and rewarding socially appropriate behavior. In addition, we want to prepare students to be college and/or career ready. We will accomplish this by incorporating all of the above and teaching grade level standards (Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks), as supported by the state and district, and presented through the district’s Curriculum Maps for Kindergarten through fifth grade. The Pre-Kindergarten staff will follow the Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) protocols and guidelines for teaching developmentally appropriate skills for Pre-K students. I encourage each parent to make this school year a priority by joining the school’s staff in encouraging academic excellence by:
1. Making sure your child is on time and prepared for class so that he/she is ready to learn.
2. Making a commitment to education at home through assisting with homework, reading together, practicing math computation/problem solving skills, and encouraging good behavior.
3. Making a decision to get involved with the many volunteer opportunities available through the Parent and Teacher Organization (PTO).
4. Making an effort to stay in communication with your child’s teacher to ensure that social, behavioral and academic goals are being met. Once again, we look forward to having an academically rewarding year with your students. We also appreciate having the opportunity to facilitate the academic and social growth of students
at OGE. Please feel free to contact me at (501) 851-5370 or email me at email@example.com, if you have
