November is National Diabetes Month. The CDC reports that more than one-third of U.S. adults have prediabetes which puts them on track to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is preventable through committing to a healthy lifestyle.

First grade students in Ms. Vaughn's class wrote a book! As part of this year's theme on kindness, the students shared what they think kindness is and how they can show kindness toward others. It also ties in with the AVID strategy of sentence stems: "Kindness is ...." where students fill in the blank. Great job, 1st graders!
